Steffany Lohn Sommers Wins Debra Landwehr Engle Fellowship

Steffany Lohn Sommers from Rancho Santa Margarita, California is the winner of the Debra Landwehr Engle Fellowship in creative writing. When she isn’t juggling her career as mental health counselor, Steffany is writing screenplays. Her new dramatic project, Rooms of Experience, caught the eye of the judges at the Cape Cod Story Summit and the patron of the fellowship, Debra Landwehr Engle.

“I thought Rooms of Experience was captivating — a murder mystery that addresses autism and assisted suicide,” says Debra Landwehr Engle, an author, writing coach, as well as a mentor of the Story Summit. “The characters felt real to me, and I’m guessing this story will have an important message. From the beginning, Steffany creates a sense of dread in her storytelling. Nothing is what it seems, including a creepy helium tank that appears to have sinister overtones.”

Each season, Story Summits gather award-winning professionals from across the globe to provide intimate, meaningful and productive relationships with screenwriters and authors in an inspiring, immersive and naturally beautiful environment.
