Cape Cod Story Summit Announces Jeff Arch Fellowship
To help ten writers in pursuit of professional writing careers
Jeff Arch, the respected screenwriter of such popular classics as Sleepless in Seattle, and Disney’s Iron Will, has funded a fellowship for writers of stage, screen, and page. The Fellowship will financially enable qualified writers to be able to attend Cape Cod Story Summits this summer and fall.
Before Jeff had the idea for Sleepless in Seattle, he was a high school English teacher living in Virginia. “I didn’t set out to be a teacher, but I had a great opportunity and I really took to it,” Jeff says. “Over the years, that evolved into teaching at seminars and conferences, all over the place. What I love about the Story Summit is the mentor/student relationship that continues once we all go home.”
“I have never seen anything like it,” says David Kirkpatrick, Story Summit Founder and former President of Paramount Pictures. “At the Winter Story Summit, Jeff did more than only teach, he lit a fire inside every participant. When he challenged people to ‘Put your life into your writing,’ and ‘Stop telling yourself you are an aspiring writer. You ARE a writer,’ he had everyone in the room empowered by what they needed to hear.”
