A Very Hallmark Holiday Writing Class Adds Two More Professionals to its Faculty Lineup
Author of Hallmark’s A Christmas Card and Producer of Hallmark’s Magic Stocking Join Class
The Directors of the Story Summit Writer’s School, Amy Ferris and Debra Engle, announce that two new faculty members are joining A Very Hallmark Holiday writing class. “We are thrilled about this particular writing class,” says director, Debra Engle. “It’s for anyone who has dreamed about writing a Hallmark movie or a holiday romance …or just loves to watch them!”
Joany Kane is the writer of The Christmas Card, which premiered on the Hallmark Channel in 2006 and broke all-time ratings records for the channel. The movie received an Emmy nomination and was one of the inspirations for the current Hallmark Christmas craze.
Joany has also written a slew of other holiday movies including Moonlight & Mistletoe, A Christmas Kiss, Matchmaker Santa, Christmas Belle, A Christmas Kiss I and II, and Merry Kissmas! She is the original founder of Passion Flix, which turns romance novels into movies and series.
Also joining the faculty is James Crawford. James has developed and produced seven movies for Hallmark Channel and UPTV, including Magic Stocking (Bridget Regan), Love’s Complicated (Holly Marie Combs), and A December Bride (Jessica Lowndes).
James has particular expertise in adapting novels for the screen with titles from HarperCollins Faith and Zondervan, and loves nurturing the creativity of new writers.
“In all our courses,” says Amy Ferris, Director of the Writer’s School,“faculty members rotate according to their area of expertise, bringing you world-class instruction on every topic. Experts in this field, Joany Kane and James Crawford, join a celebrated faculty for this holiday class which includes Jeff Arch, the Oscar-nominated writer of the classic rom-com, Sleepless in Seattle, and Anne Carlucci, the legendary Hallmark producer.”
“Not only has Anne produced Christmas-themed movies for Hallmark, but wedding movies, and Valentine movies, as well. If anyone ever wanted to learn the craft of writing feel-good and romantic stories, with these wonderful faculty members, this is the class for you,” says Ferris.
There will be two live classes the week of November 30 — December 4.
One is a daytime class and one is an evening class. Both classes will cover the same curriculum and will feature Anne Carlucci, Jeff Arch, Joany Kane and James Crawford. To learn more about A Very Hallmark Holiday or to enroll, go here.
